Lazar Nikolov

Lazar Nikolov, born in 1983 in Gevgelija, graduated with a degree in Graduated Ecology-Biology from the Faculty for Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the Institute of Biology in Skopje.
His career has been marked by active engagements and volunteer work with various ecological initiatives. At the Macedonian Ecological Society (MES) in Skopje, he contributed to projects such as 'Protection of Osogovski Mountains as part of the Balkan Green Belt,' focusing on digitalizing fitocenology and hydrology using GIS software and conducting biodiversity research on large and small mammals. He was also part of the 'Balkan Lynx Recovery' program, participating in seminars, workshops, GIS coordination, and fieldwork for monitoring and conservation efforts. Additionally, he assisted in projects like 'Protection of brown bear (Ursus arctos)' and participated in biodiversity assessments of regions like Sar Planina and monitoring common bird species in Bogdanci municipality.
Collaborating with the Research Association of Student Biologists (IDSB) at the Institute of Biology in Skopje, Lazar participated in biodiversity research activities across various mountainous regions, such as Osogovski, Ilinska-Plakenska, and Shar Planina.
Recognizing the Apollonia Foundation's impact, Lazar views their projects as immensely beneficial to the citizens of Gevgelija. He believes these initiatives create socio-cultural awareness and significantly aid the daily lives of the citizens. He commends the Foundation's broad spectrum of activities across health, culture, ecology, and other domains, contributing to the overall enhancement of Gevgelija's quality of life.
